Kitchens we have built in Guelph.
Guelph is home, and a good share of our kitchens are here. These are four of them, each built in our Johnston Street shop.

Condos, century homes and everything between.
Downtown condos. Two of the kitchens above are Guelph condos, where the footprint is fixed and every centimetre counts. Running the cabinets and crown moulding right to the ceiling, as in the subway tile kitchen, adds storage the room did not have and makes a small kitchen look built in rather than fitted.
Older homes near the core. Guelph's older neighbourhoods are full of stone and brick houses built long before open plan living. Their kitchens are often closed off and their walls rarely square, so cabinetry built to the actual room, rather than to catalogue widths, is what makes the finished kitchen fit.
Newer subdivisions. In Guelph's newer neighbourhoods the space is usually there, but the original kitchen came with builder grade boxes. Replacing them with a custom layout, an island sized to the room and finishes chosen for the family is often the whole project.

What to know about renovating a kitchen in Guelph.
A few local details shape a Guelph kitchen before the design even starts.
Building permits
Replacing cabinets and counters on their own usually needs no permit. Taking out or changing a wall, or moving plumbing, generally needs a building permit from the City of Guelph, and it is planned for from the start.
Condo rules
Condo corporations usually set rules for renovations, such as approved working hours, elevator bookings and approval for any plumbing changes. We work within them so the project runs smoothly with your neighbours.
Older walls and floors
In Guelph's older homes, floors slope and walls lean. Cabinetry is scribed to the room on site, and floors are levelled where needed, so the finished kitchen looks straight even when the house is not.
Opening the floor plan
Joining the kitchen to the living or dining room is the most common reason a Guelph kitchen project grows. Whether a wall can come out, and what it takes, is settled before the design is signed off.
Close to the shop
Because the shop is in Guelph, site visits during the build are quick to arrange, and small adjustments to a door or panel can go back to the shop and return the same week.
3D before you commit
You see the finished kitchen as a 3D perspective, with the layout, sightlines and finishes, and sign off before a single cabinet is cut.
What a Guelph kitchen costs.
Most of our Guelph kitchens are part of main floor renovations, and those projects typically run from $50,000 to $200,000 depending on how much of the floor changes. We price every kitchen from one fixed scope, agreed after the consultation and the 3D design, so the price stops moving once you have signed off.

Guelph kitchen questions.
What Guelph homeowners ask most before they start a kitchen, answered plainly.
What is the typical cost of a kitchen renovation in Ontario?
It varies too much across Ontario for one number to help, because the size of the kitchen, how much of the layout moves and the finishes decide it. Most of our Guelph kitchens are part of main floor renovations that typically run from $50,000 to $200,000, and we give you a fixed price after the consultation and 3D design.
What is a realistic budget for a kitchen remodel?
A realistic budget starts from what you want the kitchen to do. Replacing cabinets in the same layout costs far less than opening a wall and moving the sink. Tell us your number at the consultation and we will show you what it builds and where it is best spent.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation in Guelph?
Not always. Replacing cabinets, counters and finishes in the same layout usually does not need a building permit. Removing or altering a wall, or moving plumbing or gas, generally does, and it comes from the City of Guelph. We plan around what your project needs from the start.
Do you build kitchens in Guelph condos?
Yes. Two of the Guelph kitchens on this page are condos. We work within the condo corporation's renovation rules, such as working hours and elevator bookings, and design the cabinetry to make the most of a fixed footprint.
